Dampen left-side engine vibrations: When the S5’s engine runs, left-side components (like the alternator or AC compressor) add extra shake. The cushion’s rubber core bends gently to soak up these left-focused vibrations, stopping them from spreading to the chassis and cabin—cutting down on left-side rattles, especially at idle or low speeds.
Share the engine’s weight evenly: The S5’s engine weighs 120–160kg, and this LH cushion carries a big chunk of that load. It works with the right cushion to hold the engine level (no sagging to the left when hitting bumps or accelerating hard), keeping all components aligned.
Protect left-side hoses & wires: By cushioning the engine’s small left-side movements (from heating/cooling or road jolts), it stops delicate left-side parts—like the coolant hose or alternator wiring—from being pulled or twisted. This avoids leaks or electrical issues that could lead to bigger engine problems.
Fits These: All Haima S5 variants (matches engine left-side specs, frame mounting points, and weight distribution—confirm with VIN).
Won’t Fit These:
Other Haima models: Like S7, M3, or M6—different left-engine mounting spots and weight needs (cushion can’t align).
Non-Haima vehicles: Even if similar, left-engine/frame bolt patterns are off (can’t install or work).
S5 with modified engines: Aftermarket engines have different left-side weight/mounts—original cushion can’t adapt, causing lopsided engine.
Prep: Techs lift the S5 safely, use a specialized jack to support the engine (so it doesn’t drop when removing the old LH cushion), then remove bolts connecting the old cushion to the left engine/frame.
Remove old cushion: They pull out the worn unit, clean left-side mounting surfaces (wipe oil/rust/dirt), and check for left-engine/frame damage.
Install new cushion: They line up SA22-39-071 with left mounting holes, bolt to Haima’s exact torque (too tight crushes rubber; too loose shifts left), then lower the engine gently—ensuring it sits level with the right cushion.
Test: They start the engine to check for even vibration, test drive to confirm no left-side rattles or engine tilt, and verify no warning lights.
Inspect left-side rubber: Every 30,000km, check if the LH cushion’s rubber is cracked, hardened, or leaking (old rubber loses left-side shock absorption). Replace immediately if damaged.
Tighten left bolts: Have techs check LH cushion bolts during oil changes—loose bolts cause left-engine wobble and uneven wear.
Keep oil off left rubber: Engine/gear oil eats rubber—wipe up leaks near the LH cushion right away to avoid damage.
Watch for imbalance warnings: If you feel left-side vibration in the steering wheel, hear left-cabin rattles, or notice the engine tilts left, the LH cushion is worn out.
