Installation & Maintenance (Easy—But Watch the Bumper!)
Installation: Best Left to Pros (Or DIY If You’re Careful!)
Loosen the Bumper: Pop off the small plastic fasteners under the bumper (use a flathead screwdriver) and remove 2–3 screws on the right fender (near the headlight). Gently pull the bumper’s right side out a little—don’t yank it (the clips are fragile!).
Remove the Old DRL: Unplug the wiring connector from the back of the old DRL (it clicks when you pull it). Then squeeze the mounting clips on the DRL and pull it out of the bumper slot.
Install the New DRL: Slide the T21-4499020 DRL into the slot—you’ll hear a “click” when the clips lock. Plug in the wiring connector (make sure it’s fully seated), then push the bumper back into place and reattach the fasteners/screws.
Test It: Start your Tiggo 5— the DRL should turn on automatically. If it doesn’t, check the connector (you might not have plugged it in all the way) or the fuse (the DRL fuse is usually in the engine bay fuse box).
Maintenance: Keep It Shining for Years
Clean the Lens Weekly: Wipe the DRL’s glass with a damp cloth to remove bug splats, mud, or road salt—dirty glass cuts brightness by 40%, making the DRL useless. Avoid harsh cleaners (they’ll scratch the lens).
Check the Seal Every Month: After rain or car washes, look inside the DRL—if you see fog (condensation), the seal is worn. Ask Chery for a replacement rubber gasket—condensation will rust the LED module over time.
Don’t Mess With the LEDs: If the DRL stops shining, don’t try to replace the LEDs yourself—they’re soldered to the module. Just swap the whole assembly (it’s cheaper than fixing the module).
Why Choose Original T21-4499020? (Aftermarket = Waste!)
Dim Light: Their LEDs are cheap—you’ll barely notice them in daylight, which defeats the whole safety point.
Leaky Seals: They use thin rubber that cracks in 3 months—water gets inside, shorting out the module.
Fragile Clips: The mounting clips break easily—you’ll have a DRL that rattles every time you drive.
